What is a temporary home?
A temporary home is a typical Finnish accommodation that is furnished and equipped for temporary living. You can rent a temporary home for a few nights or several months, depending on your needs. The rental terms are often more flexible than those of an unfurnished apartment, and renting is much easier. The rental of a temporary home always includes water, electricity, insurance, and fast wireless internet.
What is a digital hotel?
A digital hotel is a hotel designed for typical Finnish needs, where you can stay comfortably for one night or several months. In a digital hotel, you can avoid awkward small talk at the reception or any other formalities. There are no breakfast buffet crowds because the digital hotel does not have its own restaurant or breakfast service. There is no on-site staff at the digital hotel, and you can receive service by phone, email, or other remote communication methods. The experience is completely contactless unless you happen to encounter professional cleaning during the daytime. There is no need for keys or key cards as arrival and access can be conveniently done using door codes received via text message and email on the day of arrival.
Why is the price of Hiisi accommodations low/medium/high?
The pricing of our temporary homes and cozy digital hotel rooms varies depending on demand. Roughly speaking, the higher the demand, the higher the price, and the lower the demand, the more affordable the price. In economically responsible business operations, it is important to optimize pricing so that at the end of the year, when the books are reviewed, there is a positive sum. In practice, during periods of low demand, it is possible that the sum below the line is negative, so during times of high demand, with better prices resulting in a positive sum below the line, the accounts balance out.

What is an automatic hotel?
An automatic hotel is a hotel designed for typical Finnish needs, where you can stay comfortably for one night or several months. In an automatic hotel, you don't have to engage in awkward small talk at the reception or be formal in any way. There are no breakfast buffet crowds because the automatic hotel does not have its own restaurant or breakfast service. There is no on-site staff at the automatic hotel, and you can receive service by phone, email, or other remote communication methods. The experience is completely contactless unless you happen to encounter professional cleaning during the daytime. Does Hiisi have on-site staff?
Hiisi is naturally contactless, so you won't encounter Hiisi tribe members on-site. You might come across professional cleaning during the daytime, and maintenance will visit the property as needed.
Does Hiisi have a reception?
Hiisi has listened to the Finnish people, and we have removed potential uncomfortable situations, so you won't find a reception at Hiisi locations.
Does Hiisi have a restaurant?
Even though our Hiisi homie grandmother is a brilliant cook, when it comes to temporary accommodation, whether it's a temporary home or a cozy hotel room, we usually either a. You can cook in your own kitchen or in the shared kitchen of the hotel. b. You can order food from amazing restaurants in the neighborhood directly to your door through Foodora or Wolt. c. You can go to the local restaurants in the neighborhood to enjoy a meal. Why should we have our own restaurant when there are better options available?
Is there breakfast served at Hiisi?
Temporary home is not a hotel, and Hiisi Hotel is not a traditional hotel, so the answer is no. You can make breakfast yourself in your temporary home or hotel room, or you can order breakfast through Foodora or Wolt, or even better, you can go to your favorite café in the neighborhood to enjoy breakfast.
What is included in Hiisi Homes temporary accommodations?

Does parking come included for a van?
In properties where temporary homes have their own parking space in the yard, parking for vans is included in the price. Please check the specific property's guide for parking options.
Are bed linens and towels included in the price?
Yes. Who would want to carry their inherited bedsheets, bought with a Finlayson Plus Card, to temporary accommodation?
When can I order additional services?
You can order additional services at any time, but if you want the services to be delivered or provided at a specific time, please place your order at least 24 hours in advance so we have time to arrange the service production. We depend on the help of our dear partners in service production at our locations, so the earlier they receive the information, the happier they are.
When will I receive the exact address of the apartment I booked?
The apartment or room number will be confirmed in the arrival instructions (🇬🇧 When and How will the Arrival Information be Delivered?). In practice, we always have multiple temporary homes or hotel rooms in the same location, and we strive to serve all our residents in the best possible way. Needs often change during the stay, which means that housing can be extended. This, in turn, means that if we had promised you a specific temporary home a month in advance, we could face an unfortunate situation. A situation where the neighbors Irma and Helena would have to move from their turtle farm and dry food supplies to another temporary home for a week. We surely agree that it is better from everyone's perspective not to confirm the exact address to avoid problems. Alternatively, we would have had to move you to another temporary home at the last minute, which would likely result in your previously arranged temporary mail forwarding getting tangled up, and your ordered Donald Duck magazine going to Irma and Helena on the first Wednesday of the week.
Is heating included in the price?

Are electricity, water, and home insurance included in the price?
Yes, indeed, the holy trinity. It makes moving into a temporary home much easier when you don't have to deal with contracts and notice periods, right?
How long can I rent a Hiisi Homes temporary home for?
Who are we to determine your needs? You can rent an empty rental apartment for just an afternoon if you want, but it's a different story when it comes to the rent you'll have to pay. With an empty rental apartment, you might have to pay the rent for 12 months for just an afternoon. Hiisi Homes temporary homes are usually available for rent starting from two nights. It's good to note that the longer you stay in Hiisi, the cheaper the nightly rent becomes. In theory, you can rent a temporary home for just one night, but the price is largely equivalent to two nights because we don't really want to market our temporary homes for one-night needs. We recommend local hotels for one-night stays, and of course, Hiisi Hotels if there is one in your desired location.
How long can I book a room in Hiisi Hotel for?
In practice, you can book a room for hours to months. It's up to you =)

BEFORE ARRIVAL
How do I pay for my reservation?
a) If you have made a reservation by phone or email, our host & sales service will contact you regarding payment no later than the day before the reservation starts.
b) If you have made a reservation through our website's booking engine and entered your payment card details during the reservation process, the payment will be collected automatically after the modification and cancellation deadline.
c) If you have made a reservation through an external distribution channel (e.g., booking.com , Airbnb), the payment will be collected by the respective distribution channel.
When can I cancel my reservation?
You usually receive the answer to this tricky question in your booking confirmation. In fact, the most attentive ones take note of this even before proceeding with the reservation by clicking the booking button. The most common cancellation policies allow for free cancellation 24 or 48 hours before arrival or seven (7) or 14 days before arrival. If you have made a reservation through an external distribution channel, you need to contact the distribution channel directly (e.g., booking.com , Airbnb).
What do I need to bring when I go to Hiisi?
You need to bring food and beverages for the refrigerator, a backpack of spare clothes, and be ready to feel at home. After all, we are the second best place to live, right after home.
Are the beds pre-made?
At Hiisi, a bed equals a made bed. All other possible sleeping places are not pre-made by default, and you have the joy of making them yourself. In summary, we make the beds, and you, dear Homies, get to make the additional beds, sofa beds, chair beds, and table beds. For additional sleeping places, we always provide bed linen, a duvet, a pillow, and a towel if you have informed us in advance about the extra guests. 🇬🇧 Where Are the Bedding?
When can I make changes to my reservation?
Changes are largely in line with the cancellation policies of your reservation. It is good to note that if you made the reservation through various online portals, they usually have very strict conditions, and making changes during your stay may be impossible without paying the full reservation amount. We recommend booking directly with us by phone, email, smoke signals, or modernly, directly here on the interweb, to ensure the most flexible conditions and best prices.

During the stay
When is it possible to extend my stay?
The reservation should be extended at the latest on the day before departure. Please note that the later you extend your reservation, the more likely it is that the same temporary home may no longer be available when you still need it. By extending the reservation at the latest on the day before the original departure date, we will try to arrange the extension for you at the same price.
How often is cleaning provided?
What is certain is that the price of your stay includes a final cleaning, which is done once during your reservation. For temporary homes booked directly from our website hiisihomes.fi or by email/phone with a duration of four weeks or longer, the price also includes linen change approximately every two weeks. In hotel locations, stay over cleaning is included approximately every five days.

Why would you even leave? Depending on availability, you can continue your stay where you currently reside, or you can choose to switch to another destination for the same evening and enjoy the atmosphere of a new neighborhood.
